Well the summer is almost finished and it’s time for good little musicians to get to work on the holiday schedule. Thanksgiving looks good, Christmas is a bust this year & NYE has all but dried up. Who wants to play Christmas Eve anyway? Not this guy. So, I’m going after this next album with a new undying sense of “what am I getting myself into now?” and “how am I going to do that again?”. The only things I have going for me is I’ve got a nice health stack of good workable tunes and I’m playing with some really great musicians; Robert Terry, Seth White & Rodney Girvin. I’m working with about 40 healthy tunes and 5 or 6 good starts. So wish me luck if your out there. May the gods of strong coffee and inspiration be on my side and the winds of good fortune stay pointed toward the finish line. Sleep tight everyone…
An old friend and I played a show together for the first time in years. We worked for a little bit before the show. We heard the bad news about Michael Jackson then played later that night. Here is a video of the two of us playing “I’ll be There” by the Jackson 5. You have got to hear Rodney Girvin play the keys. He is one of this areas most underrated players.
I have some of the best friends a musician can ask for at LiveFeed. Within the last two weeks Amy from LiveFeed has called me to see if I was interested helping them with some television spots in the St. Louis area. Naturally I was anxious to play a small part. I want to make sure that I thank LiveFeed properly. Without LiveFeed, I would not be where I am today. They have given me the ability to be and stay in contact with major venues in the St. Louis area. Please check them out. LiveFeed is making a major difference fighting for hunger in and around St. Louis and they are looking for any help they can find. If you have any interest let them or me know and we will be in contact with you. Here is the latest spot on Show Me St. Louis that went on right before Oprah last week.
I just got out of the studio with work on Secret Song ‘09. I’m hoping to have it finished up by the end of the month. You will be the first to hear it. I took some shots of the session so check them out if you are interested. Thanks to the great new drummer I’m working with Ben Majchrzak and as always Patrick Crecelius is always great to work with. If you haven’t downloaded “To Have and To Hold”, it’s on the right hand side of this page. I recorded that at his studio last year and now we are doing a full on project song. Have it and hold it if you want it for free. I look forward to showing you this new song. Stay posted.
I’ve got some pics of a Best Buy In Store that I did last weekend posted, so check it out.
I was glad to see so many at first show of the year at Cicero\’s. I put some pics and vids together from that show and put them up on all my hyperlinks. I will make sure to update stanleymusic first from here on out. Don’t hesitate to click on those links to see what’s new or to comment on anything you haven’t seen.I have a great set of shows coming up this week. First, Thursday 1/22 at The Gramophone with a great local act The ContinuOhm. Then on to Columbia to play to open up the spring semester. Hope to see some new faces.
Well the smoke has cleared from the great mayonnaise campaign and it looks like Lucie is stuck holding the spoon. Let me be the first to confirm that as off 12:46 am, Tuesday the 9th of December, 2008, MY Space hit 10,000 views. That is, within two days of the week long competition, MY Space climbed 979 hits. Congratulations to the clear winner from the Mayo Clinic. She fought hard and strong, broke two mouse’s and one internet browser on her road to dress that mouth sandwich. I want to thank all who threw their heart and souls behind this mayonnaise mission. I hope you actually listened to the music and heard something you like. I will see you on the next calorie campaign you sick, sick people.
I will do what I can to catch a glimpse of the prize. I can’t promise anything, but I swear, as God as my witness, I will get some kind of footage of the feast.
Ok. A bet has been placed to get my “space” hits up to 10,000 hits in one week and the looser has to eat a whole jar of mayonnaise. I know. It’s amazing what people can come up with before lunch on Monday. I think it’s sick and I can’t wait to see what happens.
The game is on and it’s not looking so good for the one who bet to keep me under 9,999 until midnight, Sunday the 14th of December, 2008. The problem: My girlfriend is the one who may loose the bet and Lucie hates mayonnaise. She wouldn’t eat stuff if it was the last form of sustainability on the earth. Not even if there was B, L, or T.
Her good friend has turned on her to win the bet. Here is a little snippet so you can feel the heat of this competition.
Taken from the social networking site of Lucie’s new nemesis who shall remain nameless.
The other thing you should know about Lucie is that she’s not so clever, so I was able to get the wager to a point where if I win, she’s got to do something pretty extreme, but if she win’s, it’s really no skin off my back. Anyway, I’d appreciate your help. If you could click on the link below whenever your heart desires, it would be greatly appreciated. Maybe even a few times a day if you’ve got the time. Listen to some of the songs too, you’d be surprised at how good they are. I would love you all to check him out, I think you would really enjoy his music. Oh, and it would make Lucie wrong.
Sometimes in this world I look around and say “What the hell? It’s for the kids? Isn’t it?”
Anyway, if you want Lucie eat a jar of mayonnaise click the link below. Also, you may like what you hear. I will try and get some footage of the creamy feast if she looses. She is going to kill me.
